Date: 13/05/2026, Razvojna agencija Stona RAST, Ston, Croatia, 9:30 - 12:30
The event was organised as an in-person awareness-raising and mutual-learning workshop addressed to local institutions, cultural and tourism operators, associations, experts and community stakeholders. The focus was on the practical relevance of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) for small municipalities and rural areas, cultural events and local tourism, linking European policy objectives with concrete local experiences and participatory discussion. The event adopted an interactive policy-to-practice approach. It combined four complementary methods: a concise European policy presentation; presentation of local and regional good practices; structured peer interviewing in small groups within the Activating Interviews methodology; and collective reflection at the beginning and end of the event. This design was intended to avoid a one-way conference format and to help participants translate NEB principles into realistic actions for their own organisations and territories. The policy input established a common conceptual framework. The case studies then showed how the three NEB values can be implemented through culture, heritage, regeneration, tourism and community co-creation. During the activating interview, the moderator divided participants into groups and used ten pre-defined questions to stimulate equal participation, comparison of experiences and formulation of locally applicable ideas. The outcomes of the Activating Interviews were systematically documented and synthesised into a Position Paper. The document captures the participants’ key reflections, recommendations and practical proposals for applying the New European Bauhaus principles in the context of sustainable cultural events and local tourism. Rather than presenting individual opinions, the Position Paper consolidates the common priorities and ideas that emerged during the discussions, providing a shared reference for future local initiatives and potential European cooperation.
